Jakarta, July 10 2018 - The Minister of National Development Planning Agency/Head of Bappenas, Bambang Brodjonegoro, said that the winning candidates of the General Sub-national Election need to immediately develop their Sub-national Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMD). Bambang reminded that the newly elected candidates will need references to develop the plan.

“The first reference, of course, is the National Development Plan (RPJMN), and the second one should be success stories from other regions,” he explained during press conference amidst sessions break in Indonesia Development Forum 2018, July 10, 2018.

Samples of development success stories from other regions, he added, can be accessed through this forum. In IDF 2018, Bambang hoped that all sub-national governments, business actors, academics, and development observers can discuss with each other and support concrete efforts to reduce inter-regional gaps.

In response to this, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tjahjo Kumolo, also expressed his support to IDF 2018. He also believed that this forum will provide beneficial references for different regions in developing their own development plans (RPJMDs). Sub-national governments can learn to synchronize their planning, funding, development, and evaluation with those of Bappenas and references from IDF 2018.

“The core keys of development are innovation and creativity of the sub-national governments,” Minister Tjahjo added, during his address in High Level Talkshow of Indonesia Development Forum 2018, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

He further said that innovation and creativity must not be dictated by the national government. Nevertheless, Bappenas can support in coordination and preparation of development plan.

Promoting regional innovation, Bappenas holds the Indonesia Development Forum 2018 with the support of the Government of Australia through Knowledge Sector Initiative. IDF 2018 is held under the major theme of “Pathways to Tackle Regional Disparities Across the Archipelago”.

IDF 2018 promotes acceleration of more equal and sustainable development in Indonesia that are based upon science, experiences, and facts. The results will be used as a reference to develop the Mid-Term Development Plan of 2020-2024.**
