First held in 2017, the Indonesia Development Forum (IDF) is an international conference hosted by the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas. The IDF provides a platform for development practitioners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors to meet and exchange ideas. Presentations from experts and practitioners highlight the research, insights, smart practices, and lessons learned from development practices, from the grassroots to the national level, as well as international experiences relevant to the Indonesian context. Through its interactive sessions, the IDF is a forum that promotes new perspectives and approaches to help address Indonesia’s key development challenges.

Since 2020, the IDF has focused on encouraging the growth of new industrialization strategies and ideas that are expected to complement, strengthen, and increase the effectiveness of current industrial development practices in Indonesia. This is done to further encourage social and economic transformation in Indonesia, to realize the vision of becoming a developed, just, and prosperous country.

To implement these aims, the IDF organized several workshops throughout 2022, including the “IDEA Series: Inspire, Imagine, and Innovate” and “IDEA Series: Innovate” series. The workshops were held in a hybrid manner across four provinces, namely Central Java, Bali, Riau Islands, and East Kalimantan, and involved various industry players and participants from various backgrounds.

To close the series of IDF events in 2022, the main event will be held at the Movenpick Resort in Jimbaran, Bali on 21 November to 22 November. The main event, seen as the closing and peak of IDF festivities in 2022, will be held under the theme of “The 2045 Development Agenda: New Industrialization Paradigms for Indonesia’s Economic Transformation”. The goal of the main event is to encourage and develop new industrialization strategies to help create added value in production, increase the quality of human resources, and respond to global development dynamics and digitalization.
