Polteknaker Must Hold Super Link and Match Programs with Industry Sectors
April 06, 2021JAKARTA – The Manpower Polytechnic Vocational Institute (Polteknaker) is currently undergoing several short term changes in order to improve the efficiency of its curriculum, human resources, product research and infrastructure.
The Manpower Ministry’s (Kemnaker) Secretary General Anwar Sanusi highlighted several issues need to be sorted out before the Polteknaker can become one of the country’s leading manpower-related vocational institutions.
“Going forward, the Polteknaker must focus more on improving research programs, industry collaboration, product research licenses and student creativity programs (PKM) as well as develop a campus environment that encourages creativity,” Anwar said through a written statement on Wednesday (24/3).
As a higher-education vocational institution, the Polteknaker must be able to effectively fulfill super link and match programs between them and the business sector while also shaping their teaching material to accommodate the current needs of various industries. According to Anwar, there are 4 factors that must serve as the guidelines for developing the Polteknaker and fulfilling super link and match programs with industries and businesses.
The first one is to develop and design a teaching curriculum based on the current pace of technology and education. The second is to improve the infrastructure needed to support and perform industry research.
The third is to upgrade the quality and flexibility of teaching staff, preferably taking in those who can be assigned to work with various industrial sectors. The fourth is to modify curriculums to better synergize what is taught with the industry’s needs.
Anwar hopes that partnerships between the Polteknaker and the business/industry sector can help shift the educational paradigm from being supply-driven to being demand-driven.
“I hope that the Polteknaker can develop its curriculum and syllabi through such partnerships to accommodate the needs of industries and businesses,” he said.
