Industrial productivity can be developed based on values of excellence to promote work ethic at an individual level, as well as creation of skilled workforce and a strong industrial sector. These values are then reflected in the education system and preparation of workforce that is focused not only on improving hard skills, but also knowledge, dedication and behavior (soft skills). Along with that, upskilling and reskilling of workforce needs to be done continually as part of the efforts to build productivity sustainably. Workforce capacity also needs to be complemented with developing technical and adaptive abilities related to developments in science and technology, including digital technology. Strengthening of innovation and education ecosystem as knowledge hubs is very important to facilitate talent that has been developed through basic education to become productive, innovative workforce, able to apply technology and ready to contribute to creating high added value. Improvements of the innovation downstreaming system towards commercialization and utilization by industry is also part of the agenda to increase industrial productivity. All of these efforts require collaboration that involves the government, universities, and industry.
