Despite significant attention to development in Indonesia there are still huge gap between counties. This paper attempts to examine the prospect of sustainable tourism development as one of the agenda that has been established globally as a panacea to connect the development and benefit not only a local community but also the environment. In most developing countries, the economic sector often to be given the most attention by practitioners. The notion of sustainable in tourism development brings the idea to bridge disparity in Indonesia. While providing the pleasure of holidays for prospective guests, it also create an activity that accommodate the local resource both in social and natural sectors. Reviewing development approach and its principles, without proper management and cooperation from all stakeholders in related issues will lead to a damage. The common systems of cooperation to support the development of sustainable tourism could be a Pentahelix model. It is a collaborative platform between academician, industry, government, society, media, and NGOs. Using qualitative methods, this paper addresses to analyze on how an alternative Pentahelix model identifies problems and brought success into rural village in Pemuteran-Bali. Data collection is semi structured interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The finding whether pentahelix collaborative platform becomes the most important to do in every sustainable tourism development work plan and would it be promising if applied to other underdeveloped and border areas. Nevertheless, there are many problems that have not been solved, such accessibility, optimization of the marketing tools, and lack of human resources.
