Background Following needs assessment, Pencerah Nusantara team-based health workers were deployed to Puskesmas Seget, Sorong Regency, West Papua between 2016 and 2018. Looking at low demand of maternal and child health service in the working area of Puskesmas, Pencerah Nusantara team developed intervention program that is implemented to both creating demand for access to the service and improving the quality of the service. The demand is created through implementation of Kelas Ibu Hamil, Joint Working Plan with village representatives and midwives training. Methods Following two years of Pencerah Nusantara model intervention, the achievement of health services indicators especially in the area of maternal and child health being examined. Three outcome service indicators representing the demand side of the service includes number of antenatal care (ANC) visits in the first quarter of pregnancy, number of ANC visits in the 4th quarter of pregnancy, and number of births attended by skilled health professionals are compared through with baseline data recorded at the preliminary stage to see the improvement of the intervention. Result Following two years of Pencerah Nusantara team program intervention, the demand for maternal and child health service showed improvement. Percentage of the first quarter ANC increased from 16.3% to 78.5%, percentage of the 4th quarter ANC increased from 12.8% to 42.8%, and percentage of birth attended by skilled health professionals that increased from 13.4% to 51.8%. Conclusion The intervention model of Pencerah Nusantara helped Puskesmas Sorong improved creating public demand to access primary healthcare facility and services within the period of intervention.
