Abstraksi
Some of the key challenges faced by the government of Indonesia are burden of regulations and lack of innovativeness in designing public policies and delivering public services. Behavioural insight recently emerges as an alternative tool in the policy design and implementation to tackles these challenges and improve policy outcomes. This paper aims to explore the potential use of behavioural insights in Indonesia by addressing these following inquiries: What does behavioural insights mean? Why it matters in the realm of policy making? and How can government implement this approach in Indonesia? A literature review will be conducted to answer above research questions. I will first elaborate the theoretical foundation of behavioural insights to better understand its concept as well as applications in the real world. Secondly, best practices and lessons learned from selected global case studies will be exposed to convince why Indonesian government should consider this approach to achieve evidence-based policy making. Lastly, i propose a policy recommendation by formulating a set of action plans to integrate behavioural insights into public policy making and development agenda.
