Refugees and asylum seekers are functional human beings that have the capabilities to be productive. However, it is difficult for them to find trainings other than English language skills in Jakarta, additionally since they are not allowed to work, they are unable to learn new skills at work either. This paper presents research findings conducted by the R4D unit of The Development CAFÉ. The main objective for the research study is to examine refugees and asylum seekers’ socio-economic situations and identify their interests in digital skills. This is an action research project that aimed to connect refugees with digital skill development and IT Skill trainings based on the skill assessments, so that they are equipped with job acquiring skillsets while the await their resettlement. The impact is twofold, it helps them develop a new skill set as well as it provides a sense of purpose, given that many of the refugees are young and are constantly in a state of depression due to their uncertain conditions
